Writing Workshops
(Workshop A at Shelburne Library, Workshop B at the Osprey)

Workshop A: "Poetry and the Art of Letting Go"
featuring LORRI NEILSEN GLENN
People, places, belongings, illusions, rules, expectations: letting go is difficult, but we can find poetry in the spaces they once occupied. This is a working session, in which we'll draft poems using different approaches and explore the art of the lost and found.

Lorri Neilsen Glenn is a poet, essayist, and teacher. She is the author and editor of ten collections of poetry and nonfiction, the most recent being Lost Gospels (Brick Books). Poet Laureate of Halifax from 2005-2009, Neilsen Glenn has won awards for her writing, research, and community work. She currently resides in Halifax.

Workshop B: "Autobiography to Fiction"
featuring BETH POWNING and STEPHANIE DOMET
Fiction writers are encouraged to "write what you know." Drawing upon events and circumstances in your own life can lead to the writing of great fiction.

Beth Powning is the author of two memoirs, Edge Seasons and Shadow Child, as well as two novels, the most recent being The Sea Captain's Wife. Stephanie Domet's award-winning first novel, Homing, is based on events from her own life.

COST PER SESSION IS $25. TO REGISTER, PLEASE EMAIL ospreyartscentre@eastlink.ca or CALL 902-875-2359.
